How much should I feed my dog to lose weight?

The amount you feed your pet will depend on their size, breed and activity levels. Food volumes will also depend on the calorie amount contained in your dog’s food - which can be found on all Hill’s packaging and on the Hill’s Pet website. It is very important to resist feeding your dogs treats over and above their regular food (unless they are low calorie treats that you have accounted for in their daily calorie intake), as this will impede weight loss. We’ve put together some top tips on begging, and healthy snacks and treats for your dog.

Hill’s Prescription Diet Metabolic works to change a pet’s metabolism from storing to burning fat. This helps them to lose and maintain weight more effectively. Find a Pet Slimmer clinic near you, to learn more about enrolling your pet in a healthy weight loss programme.

Monitor your pet’s weight regularly, to make sure your weight management programme is on track. If you are concerned about the speed of the weight loss, or any potential side-effects, always consult your vet.
